Minor in Bourbon Studies at Midway University

Did you know that you can now study Bourbon? Midway University now offers a Minor degree in Bourbon Studies.

The Bourbon Studies Minor is a great addition to several of Midway’s undergraduate majors such as business administration or marketing communications. The focus of this minor is to better understand the culture and business of the Bourbon industry.

Courses are designed to give students the history of the industry, learn and talk about the Bourbon tasting experience, understand the role of Bourbon in Kentucky’s tourism and hospitality industry, and be prepared to gain entry level employment in the Bourbon industry or the supporting tourism industry.

According to the Kentucky Distillers’ Association, the Bourbon industry has a $7.6 billion impact on Kentucky’s economy, and since Bourbon studies is only available in Kentucky, Midway University provides the perfect opportunity to enter the industry. The distilling industry provides Kentucky with 15,400 jobs with an annual payroll of $707 million.

Skills and knowledge gained from the curriculum would be beneficial to those seeking employment in the Bourbon industry, tour and visitor center operations, historic and adventure attractions, state parks, and the hotel industry.
