Gallons of hand sanitizer donated by the Kentucky distillers

Kentucky Distillers’ Association came out and said that member distilleries are producing and donating almost 125,000 gallons of hand sanitizer. This donation will go directly towards frontline workers, hospitals, and healthcare facilities throughout Kentucky.

To give you an idea as to how much 125,000 gallons of hand sanitizer is like, KDA President Eric Gregory described it as equaling 630,000 750ml bottles of whiskey.

Governor Andy Beshear said, “These companies worked quickly and tirelessly to source the materials and manufacture this essential product for Kentuckians fighting on the front lines of this pandemic.

Gregory went on to say that distilleries didn’t have to be asked, but shifted gears and jumped right into making hand sanitizer for those who need it most.

Distilleries are following Food and Drug Administration guidelines in creating hand sanitizer, with the main ingredient being alcohol.
