How to Make the Drinks of 144th Kentucky Derby

May 5, 2018 was the 144th running of the Kentucky Derby. Thousands of people enjoyed drinks on Derby day at historic Churchill Downs. Just because Derby is over doesn’t mean you can’t keep enjoying the Derby drinks. You may have enjoyed them at Derby or wish you could have, either way we are here to teach you how to make them so you can enjoy the tastes of Derby year round.

Old Forester Mint Julep

To make the Old Forester Mint Julep you need 3 oz. Old Forester   Mint Julep, 3 sprigs of Mint, Crushed ice, a Julep cup, and a straw. First take 2 sprigs of mint and muddle them in you Julep cup. Fill the julep cup with crushed ice.  Pour 3 oz. of Old Forester Mint Julep over the ice. Stir with the straw and garnish with a sprig of mint.

 

 

Wooford Reserve Spire

To make the Wooford Reserve Spire you need 1 1/2 ounces Woodford Reserve Bourbon, 2 oz. Lemonade, 1 oz. Cranberry juice, Crushed ice, Lemon twist and a rocks glass. Fill the rocks glass with crushed ice. Then add 1 1/2 ounces Woodford Reserve Bourbon, 2 oz. Lemonade, 1 oz. Cranberry juice. Stir the mixture and garnish with the lemon twist and serve.

 

 

Finlandia Oaks Lily

To make the Finlandia Oaks Lily you need 1 1/4 oz Finlandia Vodka, 1 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix, 1/4 oz of Triple Sec, 3 oz Cranberry Juice, stemless wine glass, crushed ice, 2 blackberries, and a lemon wedge. In a cocktail shaker, mix 1 1/4 oz Finlandia Vodka, 1 oz. Sweet and Sour Mix, 1/4 oz of Triple Sec, and 3 oz Cranberry Juice. Once the ingredients are mixed, pour over crushed ice in stemless wine glass, add a straw and garnish with 2 blackberry and lemon wedge.
